Where those numbers come from
A run is one role doing one job once: the researcher on a chapter, the line editor on a draft, one exchange in the conversation that produces your brief. A run measured at about 40,000 tokens, because it carries real context — the unit’s place in the outline, the vocabulary of your project, every decision you have locked, and the text as it currently stands.
One chapter through the full sequence — plan, research, write, review, fact-check, continuity, line edit — is 7 runs. A finished 45,000-word book measured at about 122 runs end to end, brief through publication prep. That is the whole basis of the table above.
Going over costs $12 per million tokens — about 25 more runs. It is priced that way on purpose: running out three chapters from the end of a book should cost you a few dollars, not a forced upgrade.
These are estimates from measured usage, not a promise about your book. The per-run figure rests on one measured authoring run and the run counts come from the workflow as it is defined; a book you rewrite three times will cost more than one you do not. The allowance is metered in tokens because that is what the system actually records.
Before you pick one

- Images are not part of these allowances. They are priced per picture by every provider rather than per token, and they will need their own line when the app can make one. Today it can hold and clear the rights on art you bring, not generate it.
